Information From Son of Martha, C. Dickinson My mother is Martha Laprairie who was born in montreal in 1907. She had 4 brothers ( Adolphe, Charles, George and Bernard) and 2 sisters (May and Ruth).***
The earliest note of Laprairie in our family tree is Francoise Bastien dit La Prairie born August 1764 in Quebec( married Genevieve Tessier in 1796)
A son Francois Xavier La Prairie born 1806 in Quebec ( married Marie Hurtabise of Belleville Ontario in 1836 in Quebec). They had 7 children: Adolphe, Louis, Patrick, Joslyn, Auselie, Lucie and Philomene).
Son Adolphe born in 1839 in Quebec married Maria Lucas in 1861. They had 10 children ( Jane, Adolphe, Frank, Richard Lucas, Robert, Maria, George, Charles, Joseph and Eva)
Richard Lucas born 1868 married Mary Margaret Christian in !892 in Montreal, Quebec. ***They had the 7 children which I referred to in the opening sentence.
The Laprairies from this part of the tree have a significant number of descendants spread across Canada and the US.
FYI: We can trace Genevieve Tessier back to Urbain Tessier one of the earliest settlers in New France in what was known as Ville Marie ( now Montreal). He arrived about 1645. If you look upTessier. you will find more information
